FAREHAM COMMUNITY LOTTERY LAUNCHED

Fareham Borough Council is delighted to announce that it has awarded the charity, One Community, the funding it needs to launch a new Community Lottery for Fareham.  This exciting new lottery will not only provide residents with the chance to win cash prizes but will also provide a vital source of income for valued charities and community groups based in Fareham, many of which have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Within 48 hours of starting registration for good causes, One Community has already signed up a wide range of local charities and community groups, which will start receiving funds from the lottery after the first draw on the 13 March 2021. These include:
  • 3rd Portchester Scouts
  • Stop Domestic Abuse
  • Stubbington Stitch and Knit Group
  • Swanwick Lions Club
  • The Crafty Makery
  • The Moving on Project
  • Titchfield Festival Theatre
The number of good causes supported by the lottery is expected to grow considerably over the next weeks and months, providing charities and community organisations the opportunity to receive 40 percent of each £1 ticket purchased.
Tickets for the March draw will be available from 9th February and residents who buy tickets will not only be in with a chance of winning cash prizes but they can also decide which good causes their tickets will benefit by selecting a charity for every ticket purchased.
I am delighted that so many charities have already signed up to be part of the Community Lottery. They represent a wide range of good causes which benefit every generation of our community as well as providing some with a vital lifeline for help and support. This is exactly what the lottery was designed for and I hope that Fareham residents will show their support when tickets are available from early February.
